ท่าพิพิธภัณฑ์ (Museum Pier) เชิญชวนผู้รักในศิลปะทุกท่าน ร่วมเป็นส่วนหนึ่งในวาระสำคัญของการเชิดชูมรดกทางปัญญาและศิลปะของชาติ ในนิทรรศการ Life and Bronze จัดแสดงผลงานประติมากรรมชิ้นเอก รวมถึงบันทึกอันทรงคุณค่าและคุณูปการของ อาจารย์ไพฑูรย์ เมืองสมบูรณ์ ประติมากรผู้มีชื่อเสียงในการสร้างผลงานประติมากรรมแบบเหมือนจริง และครูผู้เปี่ยมความสามารถ โดยทายาทปรารถนาให้ผู้ชมได้เห็นทั้งผลงานและชีวิตส่วนตัว ผ่านข้าวของเครื่องมือในการทำงาน ภาพถ่าย ภาพวาด ภาพเขียนสีน้ำเมื่อครั้งวัยเยาว์ และผลงานต่าง ๆ ที่ไม่เคยจัดแสดงที่ไหนมาก่อน นำมาจัดแสดงให้ผู้ชมได้รับรู้ถึงฉากชีวิตอันงดงามของประติมากรและครูผู้อุทิศตนให้กับงานศิลปะที่ตนรัก
Museum Pier invites all art enthusiasts to celebrate the nation’s artistic and intellectual heritage at the Life and Bronze exhibition. The showcase features masterful bronze sculptures alongside valuable records and contributions of Paitun Muangsomboon, who was not just a famous sculptor known for his lifelike works but also an exceptional teacher. The artist’s family wishes to offer visitors a glimpse into both his oeuvre and his personal world through his working tools, photographs, drawings, childhood watercolors, and various never-before-seen works. Together, these pieces illuminate Paitun’s remarkable life as a sculptor and teacher who dedicated himself wholeheartedly to the art he loved.

นิทรรศการ Life and Bronze ไม่เพียงรวบรวมผลงานประติมากรรมของศิลปิน หากแต่เป็นเสมือนการเปิดเผย ‘บันทึกชีวิต’ ของศิลปินและครูผู้อุทิศตนเพื่อศิลปะ ได้รับการออกแบบอย่างประณีตเพื่อให้ผู้ชมสัมผัสถึงความกลมกลืนระหว่างผลงานอันเป็นรูปธรรม (Bronze) ผ่านประสบการณ์ การเดินทาง และความคิดของศิลปิน (Life) โดยใช้ความเชี่ยวชาญในการจับอารมณ์และความสวยงามของสิ่งมีชีวิตในชั่วขณะได้อย่างลึกซึ้ง และการเลือกใช้สำริด (Bronze) เป็นสื่อกลางในการถ่ายทอด ทำให้ผลงานมีความหนักแน่น สง่างามเหนือกาลเวลา

ส่วน รูปปั้นล้อบุคคลขนาดเล็กจากความทรงจำ (หัวล้อ) ผลงานที่มีเสน่ห์เฉพาะตัว ซึ่งเป็นเสมือนภาพบันทึกสามมิติของบุคคลที่ท่านสนใจ และรู้สึกว่า ‘น่าปั้น’ แสดงให้เห็นถึงอารมณ์ขันและความเขี่ยวชาญในทักษะการปั้นที่ไม่อาจปฏิเสธได้ นอกเหนือจากผลงานประติมากรรมอันล้ำค่า ทายาทยังได้รวบรวมบันทึกและข้าวของส่วนตัวที่ไม่เคยอวดโฉมที่ไหนมาก่อน อาทิ ภาพวาดสีน้ำตั้งแต่วัยเยาว์ ภาพถ่าย ภาพสเก็ตซ์ และเครื่องมือในการทำงาน รวมถึงจัดทำของที่ระลึกพิเศษ อาทิ เสื้อลายเส้นอาจารย์ศิลป พีระศรี ผลงานของอาจารย์ไพฑูรย์ เมืองสมบูรณ์ และ Figure ประติมากรรมขนาดเล็ก เพื่อสานต่องานศิลป์และเก็บสะสมเป็นที่ระลึก
เกี่ยวกับ อาจารย์ไพฑูรย์ เมืองสมบูรณ์
อาจารย์ไพฑูรย์ เมืองสมบูรณ์ (พ.ศ. 2465 – พ.ศ. 2552) ประติมากรชั้นครูผู้เป็นตำนานแห่งวงการศิลปะ (รางวัลศิลปินชั้นเยี่ยมและศิลปินแห่งชาติ) ท่านเป็นลูกศิษย์คนสำคัญของศาสตราจารย์ศิลป์ พีระศรี ผู้เคยยกย่องว่าท่านเป็นทั้งครูและศิลปินที่มีความสามารถ ท่านเริ่มต้นการศึกษาที่โรงเรียนประณีตศิลปกรรม กรมศิลปากร แต่เปลี่ยนมาเรียนวิชางานปั้น เนื่องจากตรงกับช่วงสงครามโลกครั้งที่ 2 หลังจบการศึกษาได้เข้ารับราชการที่กรมศิลปากร ควบคู่กับอาจารย์สอนประติมากรรม มหาวิทยาลัยศิลปากร ช่วงปี พ.ศ. 2501-2502 ได้รับทุน UNESCO เดินทางไปศึกษาดูงานที่สหรัฐอเมริกา ฝรั่งเศส อิตาลี และอังกฤษ กระทั่งในปี พ.ศ. 2508 ท่านได้รับพระมหากรุณาธิคุณให้ปฏิบัติราชการสนองพระเดชพระคุณ ณ พระตำหนักจิตรลดารโหฐาน จวบจนเกษียณอายุราชการ ผลงานโดดเด่นของอาจารย์ไพฑูรย์คือ ประติมากรรมชุดสัตว์ และชุดกายกรรม ที่ถ่ายทอดทั้งความเหมือนจริงและเสมือนจริง ได้อย่างสวยน่าทึ่ง ทันสมัยและเป็นที่ยอมรับในระดับสากล
Life and Bronze Presents Artist’s Journey in Bronze
The Life and Bronze exhibition not only brings together the artist’s sculptural works but also reveals his “life” as a devoted sculptor and teacher. Meticulously designed, the event allows visitors to experience the harmony between the tangible bronze sculptures and the artist’s life – which encompasses his experiences, journeys, and ideas. Through Paitun’s mastery in capturing emotion and the fleeting beauty of living beings, and his choice of bronze as the medium of expression, his creations – solid, timeless and elegant – are effective communication tools.
While most sculptors of his era focused on human figures or monuments, Paitun stood apart for bringing animals to life in his sculptural practice. His works, for example, feature colt, calf and deer, reflecting innocence, purity of simple life and nature.
The Acrobatics Series by Paitun was created based on his imagination. Drawing on his memories of acrobats, the artist molded his sculptures within the scope of possible physical movements and postures. The series impressively strips anatomical details down to their essence, presenting beautiful lines, forms, and spatial rhythms. Acrobats No. 1–5 and Floorshow from the series have earned widespread recognition.
Small caricature sculptures from memory (Hua Lor) possess a unique charm. These three-dimensional sketches of individuals who captured the artist’s attention reveal both his sense of humor and his extraordinary sculptural technique. Alongside these masterpieces, his heirs present never‑before‑seen personal records and collections including childhood watercolors, photographs, sketches, and working tools. They have also celebrated his legacy by creating exclusive memorabilia. Available at the event will be shirts featuring Professor Silpa Bhirasri’s signature lines, Paitun’s works, and figurines for enthusiasts to collect and carry forward the art.
About Paitun Muangsomboon
Paitun Muangsomboon (1922 – 1999) was a legendary sculptor in Thailand (honored as outstanding artist and national artist). He was such a prominent student of Professor Silpa Bhirasri that his mentor praised him for being an exceptional artist and teacher. While studying at the School of Fine Arts under the Fine Arts Department during World War II, Paitun switched his focus to sculpture. After he graduated, he became a civil servant at the Fine Arts Department while also teaching sculpture at Silpakorn University. Between 1958 and 1959, he won a UNESCO scholarship to study artistic practices in the United States, France, Italy and Britain. In 1965, he started serving HM King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great at the Chitralada Royal Villa and remained there
